Add New Event

Add a new event through Events → Add New Event in the WordPress admin panel.

Basic Fields

Events use the same basic fields as standard posts:

  • Title — The event name or heading.
  • Editor — The main content area. Use the Gutenberg block editor to add text, images, and other blocks.
  • Featured Image — The main image that represents this event in archive listings and the single page header.
  • Excerpt — A short summary displayed in archive listings.
  • Categories — Assign to one or more events categories.

Event Options

Below the editor, you will find the Event Options panel with settings specific to this content type. If the options are not visible, check the Screen Options at the top of the page.

Important: Save the post first before editing the event options. Some fields only appear after the initial save.

  • Featured Image — Show or hide the featured image on the single event page.
  • Info Box — Enable to display the event information box in the sidebar with date, location, and links.
  • Start Date — Set the event date and time using the date/time picker.
  • Event Location — The building or venue name where the event takes place.
  • Event Address — The full address with directions for attendees.
  • Facebook URL — Link to the Facebook event page.
  • Custom URL — Any other external URL (e.g., tickets, registration).
  • Custom URL Label — Button text for the custom URL link.
  • Sidebar — Select which sidebar to display. Default: Events Sidebar.
