This weekend Matt Mullenweg (co-founder of WordPress and CEO of Automattic) has been in Montreal, Canada so we took advantage and meet him.
During the meeting, we discussed many aspects including the future of WordPress and the Gutenberg. The biggest change for the next period of time will be to add the Gutenberg to the Core and to release the WordPress 5.0.
The WordPress 5.0 will be released before WordCamp US (December 7-9, 2018), we have to expect the release between September – and the end of November.
Immediately after WordPress 5.0 release, the Gutenberg phase 2 will start, the block concept will be used to replace widgets, menus, and have themes that allow you to build entire sites. These changes will help to control every part of the website via the Gutenberg. This will be released in WordPress 5.1, before April 2019.
Conclusion: There is just one single way to move forward and this is the Gutenberg!
All our themes with the theme version 2.0+ are compatible with the Gutenberg.
If you are using an old theme version, now it’s a good time to join our Club Member at a very special price of $87/year. This will grant you access to all our WordPress themes + support during your active subscription!
