You can add new events\u00a0through\u00a0Events<\/strong>\u00a0\u2192\u00a0Add New Event<\/strong>\u00a0in the\u00a0WordPress Administration Panel.<\/p>\n

The Events<\/strong> \u2192 Add New Event<\/strong> screen.<\/p><\/div>\n

Events\u00a0contain most of the same options as standard posts. You can read about these in the\u00a0Add New Post chapter<\/a>. Additionally, they contain post options specific to events.<\/p>\n

Event\u00a0Options<\/h2>\n

Event\u00a0Options are found below the editor on the Edit Event\u00a0page. If the Event\u00a0Options are not visible, make sure they are checked inside the\u00a0Screen Options<\/strong>\u00a0area at the top.<\/p>\n

[wpls_alert alert_shape=”alert-shape-rectangular” alert_type=”alert-type-info” alert_width=”100%”]If you are adding a new event, make sure you have saved the post before editing event\u00a0options. Otherwise, the event\u00a0options will not be visible.[\/wpls_alert]<\/p>\n

Header image<\/h3>\n

The header image is displayed\u00a0behind the title at the top of the single event\u00a0page in the front-end. Select a wide but short image, around 1680px x 275px.\u00a0Click the\u00a0+<\/strong>\u00a0button to upload an image.<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t add a header image, the default background color will be displayed.<\/p>\n

Start date and time<\/h3>\n

This field denotes the start date and time of this event. In the case of repeating events, please enter the start of the first occurrence of this event.<\/p>\n

End date and time<\/h3>\n

This field denotes the end\u00a0date and time of this event. In the case of repeating events, please enter the end of the first occurrence of this event.<\/p>\n

Recurring event<\/h3>\n

Switch to On to enable this event to repeat. This will enable the following three options.<\/p>\n

Repeat every x days<\/h3>\n

Enter every how many days you want this event to repeat.\u00a0For example, if you set the event to\u00a0B<\/strong>egin repeating from<\/strong>\u00a0Tuesday 16\/02\/2016, to repeat every 2\u00a0days, it will repeat on Tuesday 16th, Thursday 18th, Saturday 20th and so on, until and including your Repeat until<\/strong>\u00a0date.<\/p>\n

The date set in Start date and time<\/strong>\u00a0will also be displayed as a separate event, so you do not need to include it in\u00a0Begin repeating from<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Begin repeating from<\/h3>\n

The first day\u00a0on which this repeating event should occur. The date set in\u00a0Start date and time<\/strong>\u00a0will also be displayed as a separate event, so you do not need to include\u00a0here.<\/p>\n

Repeat until<\/h3>\n

The last day\u00a0on which this event should occur.<\/p>\n

Event ticket service<\/h3>\n

The name of the ticketing service used for this event, such as\u00a0Eventbrite<\/em> or\u00a0Facebook<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Event ticket service URL<\/h3>\n

The URL of the ticketing service used for this event.<\/p>\n

Event color<\/h3>\n

The event color is used by the\u00a0Events: Calendar page template. This is the color which this event (including repeats) will be displayed in on the calendar.<\/p>\n

Event location<\/h3>\n

A user-friendly name of the location or building where the event will take place, such as\u00a0Notman House<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Event address<\/h3>\n

User-friendly address of the event which will be displayed above the map in the information panel. Consider including some directions or a description of your event location to make it easier to find.<\/p>\n

Event Google Maps location<\/h3>\n

Maps are dispayed using\u00a0Google Maps<\/a>, so check your location is displayed correctly there before pasting it in here.\u00a0These fields can accept any address, such as “51 Sherbrooke W., Montreal, QC<\/em>“, as well as coordinates in the format latitude,longitude<\/code>\u00a0(such as “45.511892,-73.569732<\/em>“) if you need something more precise. They cannot accept business names or landmark names, such as \u201cNotman House<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n

Setting a Google Maps location inside the theme.<\/p><\/div>\n

If you’ve already entered latitude and longitude values separately before upgrading to versions of themes which accept addresses, these will continue to be used, but will no longer appear in the admin interface.<\/p>\n

Remember to include your Google Maps API key on the\u00a0Theme Options\u00a0page<\/a> for maps to be displayed correctly.<\/p>\n

Pin map icon<\/h3>\n

The pin to be placed on the map in the location you set in\u00a0Event Google Maps location<\/strong>. The recommended size for this is 64px x 64px, but any other size will also be handled correctly.<\/p>\n

Media Options<\/h2>\n

The media options determine the display of any pictures or videos at the top of the post.<\/p>\n

Gallery<\/h3>\n

The gallery section is used to create a slideshow of images to be displayed at the top of the post. Click\u00a0Add New<\/b>\u00a0to add a new image. You can also click the\u00a0pencil icon<\/strong>\u00a0on an existing image to edit it, or the\u00a0bin icon<\/strong>\u00a0to delete this image.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Title<\/strong>\u00a0is used to help you identify the image, and is not displayed in the front-end.\u00a0The\u00a0Caption<\/strong>\u00a0is the text displayed at the bottom of the image \u2013 you can leave this field empty.\u00a0Finally, the\u00a0Gallery Image<\/strong>\u00a0is the image displayed for this slide. Click\u00a0+<\/strong>\u00a0to select or upload an image.\u00a0The recommended size is 1200px x 800px, but any size will be displayed correctly.<\/p>\n

Video<\/h3>\n

The video is displayed in the media area, in\u00a0separate tab to the photos set up above. The theme supports YouTube and Vimeo as sources of video. Find the video you want to display on one of the supported sites, copy the URL from your browser, and paste it here.<\/p>\n

Share buttons<\/h3>\n
