Posts are entries that display in reverse chronological order on your blog page. The latest post is always displayed first. Posts usually have comments and are included in your site’s RSS feed.
The Block Editor (Gutenberg)
WPlook themes use the WordPress Block Editor (also known as Gutenberg). Instead of a single text area, you build your content using individual blocks — paragraphs, headings, images, lists, and more. Each block can be moved, styled, and configured independently.
To add a new post, go to Posts → Add New in your WordPress admin panel.
Writing a Post
- Click Posts → Add New from the main menu.
- Enter your post title in the field at the top.
- Click the + button or type / to add content blocks (Paragraph, Heading, Image, List, etc.).
- In the right sidebar, assign Categories and Tags under the Post tab.
- Set a Featured Image from the Post tab in the sidebar.
- Configure any theme-specific options in the sidebar (see below).
- Click Publish when ready, or Save Draft to continue later.
Common Blocks
- Paragraph — Standard text block. Press Enter to create a new paragraph.
- Heading — Section titles (H2 for main sections, H3 for subsections).
- Image — Upload or select images from the media library. Always add alt text for accessibility.
- List — Bulleted or numbered lists.
- Quote — Styled blockquotes for highlighting text.
- Gallery — Display multiple images in a grid layout.
- Video / YouTube — Embed videos directly by pasting a URL.
Theme Options in the Sidebar
Important: WPlook themes are migrating to Gutenberg metaboxes. In updated themes, theme-specific options (such as header images, layout settings, and custom fields) appear in the right sidebar under the post settings panel. Open the sidebar by clicking the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top-right corner. In older theme versions, these options may still appear below the editor content area.
The exact options available depend on your theme. Common options include:
- Header Image — A background image displayed behind the post title.
- Layout Options — Sidebar position, full-width toggle.
- Post Format — Standard, Video, Quote, etc. Changes how the post is displayed on the front end.
Check your theme’s specific documentation for the full list of available post options.
Post Settings (Right Sidebar)
The right sidebar has two tabs: Post and Block. The Post tab contains global settings for the entire post:
Status & Visibility
- Visibility — Public, Private, or Password Protected.
- Publish Date — Schedule for future publication or back-date posts.
- Stick to the top of the blog — Pin this post to the top of your blog page.
- Pending review — Mark as pending for editor approval.
The URL slug is generated from your title automatically. You can edit it to create a shorter, cleaner URL. Make sure permalinks are enabled in Settings → Permalinks.
Categories & Tags
Assign one or more categories and tags to organize your content. You can read more about these in the Categories and Tags documentation.
Featured Image
The featured image represents your post across the site — on listing pages, in widgets, and in social media previews. Click Set featured image, upload or select an image, and it will be automatically resized to fit your theme’s layout.
Excerpt
The excerpt is a short summary displayed on post listing pages. If you leave it empty, WordPress uses the first few words of your post content.
Revisions
WordPress automatically saves revisions as you edit. To browse previous versions, click the Revisions link in the Post tab sidebar. Use the slider to compare versions and click Restore This Revision to revert to an older version if needed.
