WordPress Basics

Add New Page

Pages are meant for static, permanent content like About, Contact, or Services pages. Unlike posts, pages are not listed chronologically and do not use categories or tags.

To add a new page, go to Pages → Add New in your WordPress admin panel.

The Block Editor

WPlook themes use the WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) for creating page content. Build your pages using blocks — paragraphs, headings, images, columns, buttons, and more. Each block can be individually styled and rearranged.

Creating a Page

  1. Click Pages → Add New from the main menu.
  2. Enter your page title.
  3. Add content blocks using the + button or by typing / to search for blocks.
  4. In the right sidebar, select a Page Template if your theme provides specialized layouts.
  5. Configure any theme-specific options in the sidebar (see below).
  6. Set a Featured Image if needed.
  7. Click Publish when ready.

Theme Options in the Sidebar

Important: WPlook themes are migrating to Gutenberg metaboxes. In updated themes, theme-specific page options appear in the right sidebar under the page settings panel. Open the sidebar by clicking the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top-right corner. In older theme versions, these options may still appear below the editor content area.

Depending on your theme and the selected page template, you may see additional options such as:

  • Header/Teaser Options — Background image, gradient overlay, header height, video background.
  • Layout Options — Sidebar toggle, full-width mode, inner padding.
  • Template-Specific Options — Portfolio columns, blog post category filter, items per page, and other settings that appear when you select a page template.

Check your theme’s specific documentation for all available page options and templates.

Page Settings (Right Sidebar)

The right sidebar has two tabs: Page and Block. The Page tab contains settings for the entire page:

Status & Visibility

  • Visibility — Public, Private, or Password Protected.
  • Publish Date — Schedule for future publication or back-date.
  • Pending review — Mark as pending for editor approval.

The URL slug is generated from your page title. You can edit it to create a shorter, cleaner URL.

Template

WPlook themes include specialized page templates for different layouts — such as Portfolio, Blog Posts, or Teaser pages. Selecting a template may reveal additional options in the sidebar. Check your theme’s documentation for available templates.

Parent Page

Set a parent page to create a hierarchy. For example, a “Team” page could be a child of “About Us”, creating the URL structure /about-us/team/.

Order

Controls the display order of pages in menus and page listings. Lower numbers appear first.

Some themes display a featured image on pages. Click Set featured image to upload or select an image from the media library.

Revisions

WordPress saves revisions automatically as you edit. Click Revisions in the Page tab to browse previous versions, compare changes, and restore an older version if needed.
