Stop SOPA/PIPA

Stop SOPA/PIPA

Certainly these days you have read about SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act — Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act). The goal of these documents is to stop online piracy of intellectual property and copyrighted content.

The acts loosely define what “copyright infringement” is and gives copyright holders and the government far-reaching powers to sue websites/companies/individuals suspected of copyright infringement.

If these two bills come into force, the Internet as we know today could not be the same. Basically, behind these two acts stays something more serious, namely internet censorship and impairing of free flow information.
